Olympic Fever

We're excited about the Olympics around here! We swelled with pride last night as we watched Team USA enter in to the Bird's Nest. There's something about the whole nation banding together to cheer our countrymen and women that always makes you feel excited. And hearing our national anthem being played while the our flag is raised high -- just makes you smile. I love the individual stories too, like Dara Torres, 41 and still swimming in the Olympics. I still remember being 12 and watching Dara and Team USA's swimming events in '92. I was so inspired that summer, that I would swim endless laps in our neighborhood pool in hopes of someday joining the Team.

So for the next few weeks, you'll find our family watching the Olympics and rooting for the Red, White, and Blue!

Quite the Production

With temps now over 110 daily, the dogs' only outdoor recreation is an early morning walk each day. This typically happens before work and after John's already left for the base. It's a challenge considering that Rusty, River, Cannon, and I all have to fit the width of one sidewalk.

Here I am trying to make it work with 2 dogs and a stroller.

Guard Dogs

People like to ask how Rusty and River, our collie and golden, are handling a new baby in the house. Before I would say they were moderately ambivalent, but now they are showing more care. They lay next to his swing, nuzzle him when given the chance, and are very concerned when he's crying. It won't be long till they're the best of friends.
