Cannon met John's Grammy for the first time on Friday night. He really warmed up to her and pulled out all his different faces and sounds for her benefit!

Cannon's Heart Adventure
- Cannon had open-heart surgery on May 21, 2008 to repair a hole in his atria, a hole between his ventricles, and to clean up a formerly open PDA. Covered by many prayers, he is now in the process of healing and recovery.

Out of the Valley
My good friend Carolyn braved the Arizona heat to come visit this past weekend. On Saturday we were able to escape the Valley and made a short trip to Sedona. The weather was 20 degrees cooler and the scenery was breathtaking. We did some great catching up while hiking Oak Creek Canyon and windowshopping in town. It was a lovely break from the norm...thank you, John, for keeping Cannon for a full day!

The Manny Diaries
Thought we'd send Uncle Robby off with some photos downloaded from his camera...a telling documentation of his stay. The whole family's sad to see him move on, but we're sure he'll be back to sing Stairway to Heaven again soon.

Cannon's Heroes
We have been blessed with an incredible family. From all sides Cannon has been enormously loved. Uncles, Aunts, Grandpas and Grandmas have called, flown back and forth across the country, loved on Cannon, supported all three of us though hard times, and helped us adapt back into normal life.

Say Uncle!
Uncle Robby's here hanging out with Cannon while I've returned to my job. He's going to be the "manny" for a few more weeks until Cannon's ready to join me at the onsite preschool at work. They've already bonded over Guitar Hero and we're convinced that Cannon likes Robby's singing. A few days ago Cannon happily listened to Robby sing an accappella version of Stairway to Heaven. When Robby finished the song, Cannon began to cry and when Robby started it back up, Cannon was all smiles again. Now Robby's voice is hoarse!

Guard Dogs
People like to ask how Rusty and River, our collie and golden, are handling a new baby in the house. Before I would say they were moderately ambivalent, but now they are showing more care. They lay next to his swing, nuzzle him when given the chance, and are very concerned when he's crying. It won't be long till they're the best of friends.

Hospital Food
A pineapple? Cornbread cake? Nope, a cheese omelet. At least it didn't give me food poisoning...John was out of commission all day due to a bad cup of fruit salad.
We've actually been pretty fortunate on the food end. As Cannon's mom, I get three free trays a day and we've had John's mom, stepdad, and sister here keeping us company and bringing in food from the outside world. Thanks to them we've enjoyed Olive Garden, Carls Jr., NYPD Pizza, and Chipotle all in the comfort of Cannon's ICU room. Thanks guys!
