Cannon turned six months on Saturday! It's hard to believe...the time has been both fast and slow all at once.
He's really growing into a personality. Goodnatured, contented, joyful, with a penchant for a good laugh. He's easy-going too, but with a fighting spirit that surfaces when put to the test. Cannon's truly a good sport, happily playing on his own while I cook, iron, or run around like a crazy woman preparing to co-host a Squadron Coffee. He loves to dance around with John, particularly to the "Peanut Butter Jelly Time " song, and has caused even me, one who cannot carry a note, to sing constantly to him.
One of the most endearing of his quirks is his love of conversing first thing in the morning. Every morning, he babbles and chatters as if he wants to tell us everything he dreamed about and all the things he wants to do with his day. He's definitely in the discovering mode too, intrigued with the wonder of his own hands and feet and totally fascinated with people's faces. He's testing out new sounds and has mastered making raspberries. He's getting stronger in his trunk and neck and can sit in his bouncer and Bebepod a little longer each day. We're still not quite where we need to be for his core strength, but we're slowly getting there. I'm always impressed at his persistence.
Along with introducing a few basic baby signs, we've also started seeing an Occupational Therapist biweekly and have begun rice cereal - a big step for this solely nursed baby!
Above all, Cannon continues to inspire depths of love and joy we never knew possible and we're so thankful for his presence in our lives.
With that I'll part with a few shots from his first take on rice cereal:
Mmmmm...rice cereal...
I will conquer solid foods!
