John turned the big 3-0 today!
In honor of this eventful occasion and my gratitude that he was born today, I thought I’d embarrass him profoundly by posting 30 reasons why I love and respect John David Caldwell.
-
He is the best problem solver I know.
-
He can speak Russian with an authentic accent.
-
He is always organized and super neat.
-
He can landscape a backyard, paint perfect stripes, and tile a backsplash with panache and alacrity, all while surviving my skepticism and proving my doubts unfounded.
-
Although capable of greater speeds, he trained for and ran an entire marathon by my side.
-
He cuts his own hair – and has attempted to cut Cannon’s.
-
One of the Bible verses he lives by: Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men…” And you can tell, whatever he does, he does it excellently.
-
He applies his engineering mind to make our household more efficient.
-
One of his HS Senior Year Superlatives: Best Buns!
-
He’s a preparation hound – whether we’re going on a trip or just grilling out, he always has a plan and required materials ready.
-
In contrast to yours truly, he’s a get-it-done-now and don’t procrastinate kind of guy.
-
While I read and watch TV strictly for pleasure, he prefers non-fiction and the Discovery Channel.
-
He has amazing self-control, once going 2 years without coffee!
-
He is an incredible and affectionate daddy to Cannon.
-
On more than one occasion I’ve come home from work and he’s cleaned the house and put away the laundry.
-
He’s a methodical researcher –looking into questions and ideas with thorough and careful study.
-
The man can cook! He won a Super Bowl Chili Cook-off at Snakeye’s and Pam’s in 2006.
-
He is a machine when it comes to roadtripping, letting me sleep and read while he takes the helm.
-
He is dedicated and intensely loyal.
-
Three words: baby blue eyes.
-
He is a saver – a great balance for this spender!
-
He is incredibly disciplined and hard working.
-
Even at the age of 16, the first thing I came to admire about him was his ability to lead.
-
His family is caring, warm, and giving and I love being an “in-law” to them.
-
He's a man of faith and loves Jesus.
-
Despite all the crazy and unexpected things that have happened in our family this past year, he’s maintained a great attitude and positive outlook.
-
After 14 years of experience in watching his decision-making, I trust his instinct and judgment.
-
He puts family first and underneath his tough exterior is a caring and self-sacrificing heart.
-
Take away the flight suit and courageous career path and he’s still my hero!
-
Through the years he’s been a wonderful partner, a best friend, and a man I love and appreciate deeply.
Happy Birthday, John!
